A Real Wedding at City View

Eddie and Arlene have DJ’d and MC’d wedding receptions at City View at Sterling Square in downtown Evansville — a historic brick building with high ceilings and one big open room for dinner, toasts and dancing. Every photo on this page is from a wedding we worked there. Our First Dance is an independent wedding DJ service; we are not affiliated with the venue.

What We Learned Working Here

City View is a downtown reception room, and everything about the evening — introductions, dinner, toasts and dancing — happens in the same space. That keeps the night simple for guests, but it means the room has to change moods on cue. Here is what mattered most from where we stood.

These are our working notes from weddings we DJ’d here, not venue rules or guarantees. Every wedding is different, and we plan each one with the couple directly.

Dinner & Announcements

Reception & Sound

The reception room at City View is one big open space with the tables set around the dance floor. Sound here is about the guest experience: people should be able to talk over dinner, understand every toast, and feel the energy lift when the dancing starts. With exposed brick, high ceilings and hard surfaces, we keep dinner and toast volume comfortable and clear, then build the sound when the dance floor opens.

Nobody needs an equipment list. If the sound is right, no one thinks about it.

Introductions, Toasts & Dancing

At City View the formal part of the evening and the party share one room, so the hand-off between them matters. Arlene runs the introductions and keeps the timeline moving; Eddie reads the room and builds the music to get people onto the floor and keep them there.

Planning Notes for a City View Wedding

These are the things we work out with every couple before the wedding. They are Our First Dance planning items — not City View venue policies, which the venue will cover with you directly.

The people you plan with are the people who show up — Eddie and Arlene plan your wedding with you and are the two people who arrive on the day.
